The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)
“One hot summer 52 years ago…five friends head out to rural Texas to visit the grave of a grandfather. On the way they stumble across what appears to be a deserted house, only to discover something sinister within. Something armed with a chainsaw.”
A modern day Hansel & Gretel story inspired by the trauma of war, an empathetically void consumer society, the blood-lust of a liar president – a vision of capitalism’s dark last word? Either way, nearly 52 years to the day, it looks like we are returning to the gingerbread house. Did we ever really leave the woods??
Will we survive? What will be left of us? In lieu of breadcrumbs, popcorn can be purchased front of house.
This Peckhamplex indoor screening is, of course, a free event. No booking needed, but arrive early to secure a seat.
Doors: 8:00pm Start: 8:30pm
This independent six screen cinema, established in 1994, screening mainstream, art house, foreign language and independent films is a south London institution – a mecca for film fans.
