8:45PM (Doors open 8.00pm)
OUTDOOR: Herne Hill Station Hall
Bring something to sit on and whatever you need to stay warm and dry

We are very pleased to be bringing another ‘silent cinema’ night to Herne Hill Station Square – Buster Keaton’s The General on Friday 10 May.

Our night at Station Square has been one of the highlights of the Herne Hill Free Film Festival every year since we launched. We wheel out the people’s piano, we pull up a screen, we set out some deck chairs and everyone sits back to enjoy an evening of live music and a silent film accompanied live by internationally renowned pianist, Neil Brand.

The General is a classic tale of love and locomotives by Buster Keaton.  Johnnie loves two things: his train (The General) and the lovely Annabelle Lee. When the Civil War breaks out he enlists as a soldier, but it is decided that he is too valuable as an engineer. Annabelle thinks it is because he is a coward. When Union spies capture the train with Annabelle on board, Johnnie must rescue both his loves.

Bring something to sit on and whatever you need to stay warm and dry. Refreshments available in local pubs and restaurants.

FREE MAKES IT INCLUSIVE, DONATIONS MAKE IT HAPPEN

As part of this year’s Herne Hill Free Film Festival we are pleased to be supporting again the Norwood & Brixton Food Bank, helping to raise awareness for this most worthy of local causes. Any spare change collected at each of our screenings would be greatly appreciated and donated* to help this wonderful charity continue the admirable work.
