The Cult of Water

Free (No ticket required - First come first served)
8:30PM (Doors open 8PM)
INDOOR: The Ivy House

Fresh from sell-out shows at the Brighton Festival, masterful storyteller David Bramwell presents The Cult of Waster, a candle-lit journey in search of the supernatural secrets of Britain’s waterways, at the Ivy House, 40 Stuart Road, Nunhead SE15 3BE, on Tuesday 10th September at 8:30pm. Aided by a witch, Jarvis Cocker and magician-author Alan Moore, Bramwell battles his own thalassophobia (the fear of what lurks beneath) to unearth stories and myths that surround our rivers. The River Don is the focal point for this psycho-geographical journey, which blends original music and film, art and archive footage with a captivating monologue, taking the audience on a dream-like journey in search of the spirit of dark and lonely waters. David Bramwell is a British writer, musician, performer and broadcaster. He has made programmes for BBC Radio 3 and Radio 4 on diverse subjects including Ivor Cutler, clapping, time travel, and the murmurations of starlings. He is the founder and host of Brighton’s spoken word night, the Catalyst Club.
