To celebrate the FREE Brazil-themed Woolwich Carnival on Saturday (16th Sep) we’re showing a FREE Brazil-themed film matinee screening the afternoon before – at Shrewsbury House, 4.30pm (doors 4pm). You don’t need a ticket – just turn up. Dressing up is encouraged.

Film contains: “mild comic threat, slapstick violence and innuendo” (BBFC)

Animated film starring: Anne Hathaway (voice), Jesse Eisenberg (voice), Jamie Foxx (voice), Will I. Am (voice), Jermaine Clement (voice).

A baby Spix’s Blue Macaw is smuggled from Brazil to the US and found by a little girl called Linda who takes care of him and names him Blu. He turns out to be the last male of his species, needed to save the population of Spix’s macaws. Happily in real life this has actually happened (see below).
