Nosferatu the Vampyre
Bring something to sit on and whatever you need to stay warm and dry
Returning to one of the most popular venues in the 8 year history of the Peckham & Nunhead Free Film Festival, this year’s film was chosen by the public and will be presented on Saturday, 2 September 2017, 8pm, at Nunhead Cemetery, Linden Grove Nunhead SE15 3LP.
A screening of Werner Herzog’s hypnotic remake of the silent era classic, Nosferatu the Vampyre, is an unusually contemplative version of the Dracula legend in which the vampire bears the cross of not being able to get old and die. With stunning gothic visuals and an intense central performance from Klaus Kinski, this remake is a classic and sure to make for a great viewing experience in this environment.
This is an outdoor event so bring warm waterproof clothes. Free event. No booking needed. Arrive early to secure a place. There will be limited seating available so people are encouraged to bring their own seating if they can.
While everyone is very welcome to bring picnics, please note no alcohol is permitted on site during the screening.
This film is a 12A certificate, adults must accompany those aged 12 years and younger.
ABOUT THE VENUE:
Perhaps the least known, but most attractive, of the great Victorian Cemeteries of London established in a ring around the outskirts of London. Open to the public daily, Nunhead Cemetery’s formal avenue of towering limes and the Gothic gloom of the original Victorian planting gives way to paths which recall the country lanes of a bygone era.
The screening will take place adjacent to the Anglican Chapel (built 1840, designed by Thomas Little & JJ Bunning).
