Nomadland

When her husband dies, Fern (Frances McDormand) packs up and leaves the now derelict ex-industrial town where she has lived for many years. On the road and living in her van (‘not homeless, I’m houseless’), she takes on temporary jobs and travels across the American wilderness forming unexpected friendships with other travellers and learning about the ‘alternative lifestyle’ she has opted for.

This masterly, multi-award-winning film features real-life nomads playing fictionalised versions of themselves, stunning cinematography from Joshua James Richards and a quietly powerful performance by McDormand.

Bring a blanket and enjoy the film under the stars with us socially distanced. Refreshments for sale to support The Rookery fundraising efforts.

The film will be presented with HoH subtitles for the D/deaf or hard of hearing.
