My Own Private Idaho
Street hustler best friends on a journey of discovery.
At The Peckham Pelican on Sunday 1st September, we will be screening Gus Van Sant’s haunting tale of two street hustlers living on the streets of Portland as they embark on a journey of self-discovery and find their relationship stumbling along the way; including a short introductory talk concerning the film and followed by the opportunity for a post-screening discussion.
Dr Nick Lee (Media Arts Department, Royal Holloway, University of London) will introduce the film, discussing its ‘cult’ status, its place within New Queer Cinema and its relation to the American independent film scene of the 1990s.
Occupying a wing of the art-deco Pelican Lodge, this cafe & bar is a Bohemian spot for daytime bagels, salads and cakes, plus evening pizzas with live music and events.
