Local Hero at Creekside Discovery Centre

Join us for a special movie night as Creekside Discovery Centre proudly participates in the New Cross & Deptford Free Film Festival. We are excited to screen the beloved environmental film Local Hero.

This heartwarming tale beautifully captures the charm of a small Scottish village and the impact of an American oil company’s plans to build a refinery. Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy a classic film in a unique setting!

Dedicated to local conservation and environmental education, Creekside’s mission is to inspire people to connect with the wonder of urban wildlife. We aim to do this in lots of ways, such as screening a film with an important environmental message relevant to the local context of Deptford Creek. We also love this film for the soundtrack album by Mark Knopfler of legendary rock band, Dire Straits, which was formed in Deptford!

The screening will take place in the main room of Creekside Discovery Centre. We have chairs and benches but you’re welcome to bring your own cushions or camp chairs for extra comfort.
