When his neighbours are killed by a DEA agent, a hired assassin becomes the reluctant guardian of a young girl who begins to follow in his footsteps. Leon’s tough exterior is cracked by his growing bond with the orphan who wants to learn his profession.
30th anniversary screening of Luc Besson’s masterpiece has not dated. Leon’s influence can be felt in a number of action films that have followed it, but none have replicated its atmosphere of terror, play and melodrama quite so well.
