Fremont
Donya, a former translator for the US Army, left her home in Kabul when the Taliban took over, again. She lives alone in Fremont, California, where she works in a fortune cookie factory.
Tenderly sculptured and lyrically shot in black and white, Babak Jalali’s film is a wry, deadpan vision of loneliness and the universal longing for home.
This screening will be hosted by The Bear Church at their temporary home on the Vanguard Estate. ‘Fremont’ is in English, Cantonese and Dari and will be audio described. There will be refreshments for sale (cash and card).
