Bill Douglas Trilogy
| Rarely seen in one back-to-back sitting, The Trilogy (My Childhood, My Ain Folk and My Way Home) by the internationally acclaimed film-maker Bill Douglas plays in the Salvation Army Service Hall, 217A Gordon Road, SE15 3RT in Nunhead (entrance in Gordon Road), on Sunday 11th September 2022, 2pm-6pm. Public transport links: Nunhead Station is nearby and Peckham Rye Station not far. Buses: 78 and P12 pass very close to the venue – nearest stops are Nunhead Green and Barset Road.
In the 1970s, when Bill Douglas burst on the scene with his 3 black and white masterpieces The Trilogy, about his desperately hard childhood in a Scottish mining village during the mid 1940s–early 1950s, he took the film world by storm. The likes of Lindsay Anderson, Satyajit Ray and Francois Truffaut all sang his praise. There will be a short introduction by Andy Kimpton-Nye, who has made a number of documentaries on Douglas. There will be 10 mins breaks between the films for tea/coffee or the toilet. At the end, there will be a Q and A session with one of the leading film editors working today, Mick Audsley (My Beautiful Launderette, Interview with the Vampire, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, The Personal History of David Copperfield). Mick worked on the last film in The Trilogy (My Way Home,) as well as Bill Douglas’s epic, Comrades. |
