48 Hour Film Challenge Submission
The Herne Hill Free Film Festival’s 48 Hour Film Challenge is back for its seventh year. Over the years we’ve had well over a hundred films made showcasing what a fabulous wealth of talent there is in our small pocket of London. The way it works is we give you a line of dialogue, a prop, a Herne Hill location and 48 hours and all you have to do is go out and write, shoot, act, edit, and everything else needed to make a 3 minute masterpiece.
Submission takes place at The Prince Regent on 6 May at 12:00pm to 1:30pm.
So whether you’re a seasoned professional or you’ve never made a film before (seriously, every year we get a good number of absolute beginners) we want you to come and show us why you are Herne Hill’s very own Spielberg. You can use your phone, a tablet, a camera or anything else you can lay your hands on to craft your masterpiece which will be judged by our panel of Oscar winners (for once, we’re being serious!) and as with previous years there are three competition categories: Under 16s; Over 16s; and Families. The star studded (that’s you) awards ceremony will be taking place at Station Hall at 6pm on 26 May. The winning films will also be screened before our final outdoor screening of the festival at Station Square on 1 June.
Oh. And there are big big cash prizes for the winners of each category and for the challenge as a whole.
As part of this year’s Herne Hill Free Film Festival we are excited to be partnering with the Maudsley Charity, to help them promote positive change in the world of mental health and to make a real difference to the treatment of mental health in our area. We will be collecting donations at each of our screenings to support their local activities, so if you can, any money that you can spare would be greatly appreciated to help this wonderful charity continue the admirable work they do.
