The Cotton Club
Venue capacity: 170
For one night only, 1930s New York comes to Peckham, courtesy of Theatre Peckham and Oscar-winning movie The Cotton Club. A show-stopping performance from Jazz Dance Elite sets the mood for this classic Coppola movie where two love stories play out against a background of jazz music, great dancing and gangsters. Chronicling the gang warfare and racial tensions surrounding the famous Harlem nightclub, through the prohibition era, the Wall Street Crash and the Depression, The Cotton Club stars Richard Gere, Gregory Hines and Diana Lane.
Free event. Please arrive promptly for the show and movie. And if you fancy dressing up to suit the era, you’re very welcome – but that’s entirely optional!
