CLOSING NIGHT: 48 hour Film Competition Gala & screening of I, Daniel Blake

Free (No ticket required - First come first served)
7:00PM (Doors open 6.30pm - see event listing for full details)
INDOOR: The Portico Gallery

“A battle cry for the dispossessed” (The Guardian)

“A quietly fearsome piece of drama” (The Telegraph)

“Melodramatic and intensely moving” (The Independent)

Ken Loach’s searing 2016 drama about a joiner from the north east of England forced to sign on following health problems, who teams up with a single mother to navigate the benefits system and maintain his dignity, I DANIEL BLAKE is both a scathing overview of ‘broken Britain’ and an intensely human, and sometimes painfully funny drama.

*******************************************************************

West Norwood Free Film Festival’s closing film will be screened at 8.20pm after the final of the 48 Hour Film Challenge (which takes place at 7pm). People are invited to both events (but those under 15 years of age will not be admitted to I, DANIEL BLAKE).

Entry to the closing night of the festival, is on a First Come, First Saved Basis as the venue is much larger than the smaller ones used during the festival. If you’d like to secure the best seats, we’d recommend you turn up to Portico Gallery before 7pm to grab a drink and then enjoy watching the short films completed during the 48 Hour Film Competition. We will then allow anyone not already seated to come in for the screening of I, Daniel Blake in the break between 7:45-8:20pm, but please note we will not be taking reservations for the film screening.

Please see full event timings further below:

6.30pm: Doors Open for The 48 Hour Film Challenge Final (ALL welcome to come and watch)
7pm: 48 Hour Film Challenge Final
