One Sings, the Other Doesn’t

Free (No ticket required - First come first served)
8:00PM (Doors open 7.30pm)
INDOOR: Feminist Library

Agnès Varda was a Belgium-born French film director, screenwriter, photographer and artist. Her pioneering work was central to the development of the widely influential French New Wave film movement.

The Feminist Library https://feministlibrary.co.uk/ houses a large collection of materials that have been collected since the women’s liberation movement of the 1970s and supports research, activist and community projects. The library moved to Peckham in 2019. People of all genders are welcome in the space.

As the Feminist Library looks forward to celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2025, Varda’s One Sings, the Other Doesn’t (L’Une Chante, L’Autre Pas) is a particularly appropriate film to screen as it was made in the era in which the library was founded. It chronicles the friendship of two women searching for their identities in 1970s France.

UPDATE ON PUBLIC TRANSPORT TO THIS VENUE: buses 63 and 363 which give close access to the Feminist Library in Sumner Road are currently on diversion between Commercial Way & Nile Terrace so if coming from Peckham direction you will need to get off at Bonar Road, if coming from Old Kent Road you will need to get off at Dunton Road.
